ARTICLE 1: SPORTIVE ATTITUDE AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Transgrancanaria race is held with absolute respect for environment. Traffic circulation won’t be stopped and participants must respect the rules of the road in towns and on roads for public use. Participants will be disqualified from the competition if they display paramilitary behavior, advocate terrorism, show signs of violent or xenophobic behaviour or leave rubbish behind. It is compulsory to respect crops, livestock and private property. Participants will be responsible for all damages they cause.

ARTICLE 2: REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

2.1 REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

Only entries made through LINK will be accepted. The necessary forms must to be completed and the registration fee needs to be paid with a credit/debit card.

Each participant must complete his/her personal data successfully, as it will be used by the organization during the collection of the race numbers.

2.2 CONDITIONS OF REFUND

When you are registered you have a place reserved. In case of cancellation of the registration, the organization will only refund the amount if the participant concerned has paid the refund insurance payment when doing the registration, which is set at €20. It is still necessary for participants to prove their reasons for withdrawal supplying an official certified document. Such refunds can only be made up until 15 days before the start of the race. After this date there will be no refunds for any registration. Any changes to an entry (race or name) must be made at most 2 months before the race (4th of January 2020). After this date no changes can be made. Changes of name or race distance will have an extra charge of 5€. It is not possible to save your registrations for the next year. If the registrations are closed it will not be possible to make changes of modality or ownership. 

 

ARTICLE 3: REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

3.1 GENERAL RULES

All participants must:

– Be at least 18 years old, except those participating with their mother / fother / legal guardian in the Family Trans.

– Know and accept the rules of competition.

– Complete the forms of pre-registration and registration correctly.

Only if you are planning to run the Transgrancanaria 128km, when filling the application you must prove that you have ended a race over 50 kms in the past two years.

 

3.2 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

Registered participants in the Transgrancanaria 360º, Transgrancanaria Classic and Transgrancanaria Advanced, must present the document medical certificate filled and signed by a doctor. This form is valid for one year before the race unless it is necessary to modify it because of disease or injury. It must be uploaded to the registration site, since 17 of June 2019 until 4th of February 2020. You can download the form from the “Download docs”

Registration will not be ended or validated until the runner encloses the medical certificate and the organization confirms it. A paid inscription without a medical certificate will not be valid. The certificate will validate the participant’s capacity for the race. The medical form of other race will not be valid only Transgrancanaria form or Spain Ultra Cup form.

 

3.4 DISCLAIMER

Participants entered in the Transgrancanaria understand that they participate voluntarily and under their own responsibility during the competition. Therefore, they disclaim any complaint to the organizers, collaborators, sponsors and other participants. The organization won’t be responsible of any accident produced because of imprudence, negligence or ignorance of these regulations. When carrying out the registration, participants agree and accept the document of disclaim.

ARTICLE 4: IMAGE RIGHTS, PUBLICITY AND DATA PROTECTION

4. 1 IMAGE RIGHTS

The organization has the exclusive rights on the image of Transgrancanaria and use of audio-visual, photographic and journalistic material. Any media or advertising project requires the prior consent of the organization. Otherwise, legal action will take place.

4.2 PUBLICITY

It is compulsory for participants to use the equipment and advertising material supplied by the organization (numbers, stickers, etc..). The modification, bending or hiding of the advertising material will be penalized. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of participants to maintain the advertising material supplied by the organization (race number, bracelet, sticks…).

4.3 DATA PROTECTION

When carrying out the registration in any category of Transgrancanaria, participants give their consent to the organization for use their personal data for sporting and commercial purposes.

As established in Ley Orgánica 15/1995, de 13 de diciembre, de la Protección de Datos de Carácter Personal (the Data Protection Act), participants have the right to access to the data in case they want to correct or delete information. In that case, you should request it sending an email to info@transgrancanaria.net

Participants give the organization their consent to reproduce their name and surname, classification, category of the race, finishing time and image.

ARTICLE 5: EQUIPMENT CONTROLS

5.1. BIBS AND TIMING CHIP

The use of the chip and race number provided by the organization must be used throughout the race. The number must be placed visibly in the frontal part of the runner’s body. It may not be bent or cut. Tampering or modifying the number are grounds for immediate disqualification from the race. 

5.2. EQUIPMENT CONTROLS

In all controls the compulsory material can be monitored by the organisation. The leading runners in Transgrancanaria  and Advanced will be monitored as well as an undetermined number of runners from the rest of races.

5.3. EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE

It is strictly forbidden to accept outside assistance or supplies by individuals (competitors or otherwise) during the race. External assistance is only allowed for competitors of TRANSGRANCANARIA, ADVANCED and MARATHON races, in the areas designed for that purpose within the provisioning points except in Arucas (Santidad Alta), Presa de los Pérez and Hierbahuerto.

These will be signalled 100 meters before the provisioning point and 100 meters after, but never in the provisioning area of the organization.

5.4. STARTING AND FINISHING

The race timer will start the race at the set time with or without the presence of the participants. Participants who are not present within 15 minutes of the start will be disqualified.

ARTICLE 6: CHECKPOINTS

These are mentioned in the route description with a race’s commissioner. Skipping one or more Checkpoints will lead to penalty, wich can result in a sanction or even disqualification from the competition. This penalty will be established by the commissioners. The participant must be sure his/her times are registered in every checkpoint.

6.1 AID STATIONS

Aid Stations are pass control points established by the organization either to refill itself with liquid, food or both. THERE WILL BE NO CUPS, out of respect for the environment we will not have disposable cups in the checkpoints, so each runner must serve the liquids in their own containers, which will be a mandatory item in the required material according to the rules of the race.

6.2 AID STATIONS’ CLOSING TIMES

Every aid stations has a particular closing time. Participants who finish a section after the closing time will be automatically taken out of the race.

6.3. PASSING THROUGH CHECKPOINTS

Failure to pass the timing chip control stations is grounds for penalty or even disqualification.

 

ARTICLE 7: ABANDONING THE RACE

Withdrawals must be made in the Aid Stations. If by accident or injury, the runner cannot reach an aid station, they must follow the rescue procedure by contacting the organization through the Emergency Mobile Phone( it will be available in your bib).

7.1 RESPONSIBILITY OF RACE DIRECTORS

The Race Directors may withdraw any participant from the competition if they are considered to have a diminished physical or technical ability, do not have the required material or their material is not in the appropriate condition to continue.

ARTICLE 8: MEANS OF PROGRESSION AND REQUIRED MATERIAL

Participants are prohibited from using any assistance or implement other than their own physical ability and hiking sticks. The non-stop nature of the competition means that participants are sufficiently trained to perform physical activity continuously over several hours and they are able to recover without problems to continue with the test (avoiding blisters, tendinitis and other similar injuries).

8.1 REQUIRED MATERIAL

The organization determines the required material needed to complete the race. To participate in the race every athlete must bring the compulsory material required by the organization along the entire route description:

  • ID, passport or driving license (with photo)
  • Plastic cup.
  • Emergency blanket. Minimum measures 100 cm x 200 cm.
  • Front light with extra batteries, minimum 200 lumens, Marathom haven´t got a minimum (Except for Starter and Promo)
  • Red tail light. It must be placed in the runner’s back and it must be on during the race. (Except for Starter and Promo).
  • Mobile phone with enough credit and charge.
  • Useful Water carrier with a capacity of at least 1,5-litres. Handy water tank with a capacity of 1.5 litres, it can be a single tank or several tanks of water that add up to the minimum.
  • Enough food to face the race.
  • Race number placed in the frontal part of the runner’s body and in a visible place.
  • Raincoat made with a waterproof and breathable membrane (membrane not necessary for Starter and Promo).
  • Hat, scarf or similar.
  • Cash (euros)

8.2 BAG DROP-OFF (EL GARAÑÓN AND FINISH LINE)

Participants of the race Transgrancanaria (128 km) may use the bag drop-off service for a bag change in El Garañón. They must take the equipment they want to receive to the bib collection in Expomeloneras at check in time, which will be taken to El Garañón. If the runner leaves a bag in El Garañón, the organization will take it to the bib collection area in the finish line.

There is also a wardrabe service available for the runners of every race, who must take to the bib collection the equipment they want to receive when reaching to the finish line.

The organization is not responsible for any items left inside the bags.The bags will be taken at the time established in the race’s planning and they won’t be taken out of time. Bags which are not taken will be given to a NGO.

8.3 TREKKING POLES

For security reasons, it is prohibited to use trekking poles for the first 2 kilometers of Starter, Advanced and Transgrancanaria, except in the Promo and Marathon where the restriction is for 3 kilometers. In addition, participants will be required to cover the tips of the poles with their security protection to prevent damage to other participants, throughout the time that they are not being used.

ARTICLE 9: SAFETY STANDARDS AND GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

9.1. Every runner has the duty to provide relief to another participant who is in danger or injured and is obliged to inform the nearest control right away. The denial of relief will be penalized with immediate disqualification.

9.2. It is the duty of each runner carrying any rubbish they generate: packaging, paper, organic waste, etc., to the places designated and authorized by the organization. The hiking sticks which are broken can be left at the control points. Participants who don’t left them in an appropriate place will be penalized.

9.3. All the food packaging carried by the runner must be labelled with the runner’s bib number.

9.4. Every runner must follow the route marked and signposted by the organization. Not following the route or not going through the controls will lead to a sanction, which will be determined by the commissioners, and may result in a penalty or even in disqualification.

9.5. Participants must follow, at any time during the race, the instructions of the members of the organization.

9.6. Participants must display sportsmanship at all times and must respect the other athletes, collaborators and other members of the organization. They must be careful with all facilities provided for the race.

9.7. A runner may withdraw from the race whenever he/she wants, but must do so according to the following:

  • Must do so at an aid station and deliver the race number.
  • The runner shall assume all liability and responsibility for voluntarily abandoning the race.
  • The organization will facilitate the evacuation to the finish area of the runners who have decided to leave race at the time of closure of the aid station in which they may be.

9.8. External assistance: The accompaniment to the participant by another person, whether or not participant, will be considered external assistance and will be penalized.

ARTICLE 10: PENALTIES

Runners will be disqualified for any of the offenses listed above.

There will be a penalty or disqualification of a runner or a team for the following:

10.1. Tampering with route markings or avoiding them.

10.2. Accepting help or supplies (except assistance) from any competitor or individual.

10.3. Refusing to wear the race number, cutting it or giving it to other person involves the disqualification.

10.4. Refusing to use, changing or modifying the marks (logos, advertisements etc.) of the material given to them by the organization.

10.5. Throwing rubbish during the trip.

10.6. Obstructing another competitor.

10.7. Not having the compulsory material at every checkpoint.

10.8. Ignoring the signs of the organization and referees.

10.9. Not passing through the timing chip check points.

10.11. Not carrying all the compulsory material

10.11 Requesting medical assistance without needing it.

ARTICLE 11: DISQUALIFICATION WITH POSSIBLE PENALTY

11.1. Causing an incident (assault or insult) with a competitor, a member of the organization, the race officials or spectators.

11.2. Causing an accident on a voluntary basis.

11.3. It is the responsibility of the race committee to provide penalties and the amount of these.

ARTICLE 12: CATEGORIES:

For the classification by categories the age of the runner at December,31 of the year of the race will be taken into account.

  • Cadete male/female (15-17 years) only Youth race.
  • Junior male/female (18-20 years) only Youth race.
  • Elite male (18-29 years) both included.
  • Elite female (18-29 years) both included.
  • Master 30 male (30-39 years) both included.
  • Master 30 female (30-39 years) both included.
  • Master 40 male (40-49 years) both included.
  • Master 40 female (40-49 years) both included.
  • Master 50 male (50-59 years) both included.
  • Master 50 female (50-59 years) both included.
  • Veteran male (60+) both included.
  • Veteran female (60+) both included.
  • Transcapacidad (for disabled people)

General Male, General Female, Transcapacidad Male and Transcapcidad Female sub-categories will be available for the Starter race is non-competitive course.

General Male, General Female, Transcapacidad Male, Transcapcidad Female, Youth cadete male and female and junior male and female sub-categories will be available for the Promo race.

There will be awards in the 360º race for the first five men and women of the absolute classification.

IMPORTANT: trophies and gifts will only be delivered at the awards ceremony and pick up. The runners who don’t assist will not have the right to demand them after the event is ended.

 

ARTICLE 13: RACE DIRECTORS

The Race Directors may suspend, shorten, neutralize or stop the race for safety reasons beyond their control (weather, changes in hydrological flow, etc.).

13.1 STEWARDS

They are responsible for the compulsory check points. Failure to obey the instructions of a Steward will result in disqualification. Participants may not request or question the rules, classifications, schedules, etc., from the stewards.

ARTICLE 14: COMPLAINTS

All claims will be accepted upon payment of a € 50 deposit. This deposit will be refunded only if the organization considers the complaint is justified. Complaints shall be in writing and must follow at least one type format, which consist of the following:

  • Name and surname of the person who files the claim
  • DNI (or passport number)
  • Name and surname of affected athletes
  • Race Number
  • The alleged facts.

Complaints concerning provisional rankings can be made up to 30 minutes after their publication.

ARTICLE 15: SUSPENSION OF THE RACE

Arista Eventos reserves the right to suspend the race for reasons out of their control, such as an alert from the authorities and/ or because of adverse weather conditions. In such a case no refund will be able to cover entries or the expense of the participants.

ARTÍCULO 16: UTWT HEALTH POLICY

QUARTZ Event PROGRAM

The Organization of the name of the event has decided to set up the QUARTZ Event program to protect your health and contribute to doping-free sport. This program is open to all participants. This program has neither the vocation nor the competence to replace anti-doping rules but aims to strengthen the medical supervision before and during the competition. QUARTZ Event program is carried out in collaboration with the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), Athletes For Transparency association (AFT) and Ultra Sports Science Foundation (USS); it is managed by a Health Commission solely composed of doctors. This Health Commission can take advice from experts of its choice and specifically give a consultative advice to the race direction on the medical condition of participants. This Health Commission can go as far as to suggest to the race direction that a participant should be excluded from competition for health reasons.

Each participant agrees to:

  1. Declare to the Health Commission the following medical information:

 

    • Any medical history and/or pathology, in particular those which may increase risks during the practice of a sport
    • The use of regular treatments or medication during the 30 days prior to the start of the competition
    • Request  or use of a substance or method subject to a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)

 

  1. provide all urinary and/or blood and/or hair and/or salivary samples required from 30 days before the competition and up to 7 days after the competition. He/she also consents to the associated analysis of these samples, on the understanding that the costs for the sampling and analyses are covered directly by the Organization.

 

  1. Accept not to participate in the competition if glucocorticoids have been used, without any relation to the mode of administration and therefore the presence or not of a TUE, within the 7 days before the start of the competition. The use of glucocorticoids may be identified in the context of the analysis carried out, either from a direct dosage or in the case of an abnormally low cortisol.

 

  1. Accept to answer any meeting request on site or remotely (phone or videoconference) that the Health Commission may ask for in order to discuss their ability or not, to participate in the competition.

 

  1. Accept the use of strictly anonymous data for research purposes. Each participant has a right of access, rectification and opposition to data concerning him. The Health Commission is the authority with which the participant can exercise this right.

 

The declaration of medical information to the Health Commission is done through the ITRA health space that each participant can activate after having created a free runner account on the ITRA website: itra.run. The declared medical information is only accessible by the doctors of the Health Commission or in the event of medical care being carried out during the competition the declared medical information will also be made available to the medical team.

 

Any unreasonable breach, refusal, or transmission of erroneous information in connection with QUARTZ Event program can result in the exclusion of the participant from the competition.

ARTICLE 17: ACCEPTANCE

Completing the registrarion of Transgrancanaria implies the acceptance of these regulations

MODIFICATIONS

These rules may be corrected, modified or improved at any time by the organization; also any data, rule or section of the route may be changed to ensure the best race possible. When registering, participants are showing their compliance with these rules.

 

APPENDIX: TRANSGRANCANARIA 360º

 

ARTICLE 1: THE CHALLENGE

1.1 Transgrancanaria 360º is an individual, self-sufficiency challenge, with 265 km and 16.500 meters of positive elevation. It is a high difficulty course with start and finish line in Maspalomas.

1.2 It is intended to be completed before the time limit the organization will state.

1.3 Participation in this challenge will be strictly individual.

1.4 Participants must dominate some necessary techniques to be accepted in the race: orientation, capability of supporting drastic changes of weather conditions, ability to assist other runners in case of emergency, tolerance to fatigue and lack of sleep and food.

1.5 The course will not be marked. The runners must follow the track that the organization will handle before the race.

1.6 The challenge will be completed in self-sufficiency. Runners must plan their own resting periods and feeding hours. Along the course, they will have full aid stations where they will be fed and have the chance to rest.

The organisation has a limited number of beds and mattresses in each aid station, the availability of sleeping bed sit, is limited by the order of arrivals. Depeding on the demand forrest by the runners, we will stablish a maximum time to ensure the rest for everyone.

1.7 Runners can purchase food and beverage in any other stores they have along the course.

1.8 External assistance will only be allowed in the three aid stations. Any external assistance the runners receive during the track will be punished.

1.9 The first five runners in the male and female classification will be rewarded in the awards ceremony.

 

ARTICLE 2: REGISTRATION CONDITIONS

Registration for Transgrancanaria 360º will include a specific form where the organization will ask for the previous experience of each participant, including technical experience in the mountains, the runner’s track record and his motivation. The organization will decide, according to the order of application, if the runner is accepted or denied for the challenge.  This decision will be unappealable.

 ARTICLE 3: REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

  • Water cans/bags/tanks with a minimum capacity of 3 litres.
  • Supply of emergency energising food.
  • 2 flashlights with enough spare batteries for the duration of the challenge.
  • Survival blanket (minimum size 140×210 cm)
  • Whistle
  • Cell phone with international roaming option (without hidden number)
  • 1 charger (sun-powered, extra battery…) which will guarantee the autonomy of the cell phone and gps for the duration of the challenge.
  • 1 long-sleeved unbreathable underwear
  • 1 jacket and 1 pair of breathable, waterproof trousers
  • 1 waterproof cape
  • 1 pair of long sport trousers or leggins
  • 1 pair of sunglasses
  • 1 pair of gloves
  • 1 hat
  • 1 rubbish bag
  • 1 multi-use beaker
  • Compass
  • Knife
  • 1 GPS in which all the tracks supplied by the organisation have been downloaded. This apparatus  must be able to accept at least 20 tracks of at least 5000 points each.
  • The Roadbook and the route maps supplied by the organisation
  • A lightweight tent or survival shelter (100% rain and wind proof and large enough to shelter)
  • A first-aid kit to allow the treatment of small injuries and minor infections
  • Cash (euros €)
  • ID, passport or driving license (with photo)

Recommended equipment:

  • Trekking poles
  • Extra clothes
  • Micropur tablets
  • String, vaseline, sun-cream or anti chaffing cream.

ARTICLE 4: TIME BARRIERS

Time barriers will be settled in the aid stations and every other spot considered useful by the organisation for security matters. They will be calculated in order to allow the runners to arrive to the finish line in the maximum time settled by the organisation.

To be authorised to continue with the challenge, participants must leave the checkpoint before the hour limit.

Every disqualified participant who wants to continue the challenge will do it under their own responsibility after delivering their bib and their chip.

ARTICLE 5: WITHDRAWALS

The organisation will evacuate the runners (who quit the race or are disqualified) from the aid stations, depending on the availability of the transport in every moment, without a commitment of timing determintations. In case the aid station is in a place with a lack of public transport, the organization will drive the runner to the nearest point where they can hire a transport service.

In case of withdrawing in another spot of the course, except in emergency cases, the runners will be responsible of the logistics of their withdrawal.

If the participant abandons the race, the organisation can’t guarantee the return of their bags in Maspalomas before challenge is ended.

ARTICLE 6: TRACKING

A GPS device will be delivered to the participant, who will have to give a deposit beofre collecting it. This device will send a signal every certain time (depending on the singal availability of the area). This information will be received by the Security Department of the race, who will permanently follow the race’s progress, making sure that the participants follow the correct track. This information will be available online.

The device must be returned to the organisation at the end of the race.

ARTÍCULO 7: SEGURIDAD Y CONDUCTA EN CASO DE ACCIDENTE O INCIDENTE

The Security Department of the race and the stewards of the aid stations will be the only interlocutors for the runners, who will ask them any questions if they have any doubt. If necessary, they will be the people in charge of declaring an alert or mobilising the emergency protocol.

In case of accident:

  • Runners must use their own kit for first aids.
  • In case of an emergency or the impossibility of movement, they will get in touch with the Security service of the race.
